Author & Playwright

Jocelyn B.D. Moore was born in Washington, DC., and is a lifetime resident of Prince Georges County, MD. During her early years, she developed an interest in theatre and was greatly influenced by her mother who wrote and directed church plays for youth and adults. Jocelyn’s high school drama teacher was also an influence on her interest in the theatre. After high school, Jocelyn attended Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated with a BA degree in theatre arts. She is also a life member of Morgan State’s Alumni Association.

Jocelyn’s Love for Theatre

While maintaining an interest in theatre after graduating from Morgan, Jocelyn decided to pursue a career as a Capitol Police Officer. As a police officer, she never gave up her love for the theatre. Jocelyn became very active in her church by writing and directing plays, planning events, and serving as Director of Drama Ministry. She continues to serve as the Superintendent of Sunday School, and is also head of the Youth Ministry and Family Ministry. Her favorite saying is, “God put us here for a purpose. Without Him, we are nothing.”

Recognitions

In April 2012, her company was recognized by her alma mater in the spring edition of the Morgan State University Alumni Newsletter for her achievements in literature.  

In October 2013, she was interviewed in the Southern Maryland Independent Newspaper where she expressed her desire to inspire and enlighten people through her writing.  

In May 2014, she was asked to serve on the Board of Directors for the Southern Maryland Youth Theatre Group in Forest Heights, MD. 

In September 2014, she was interviewed in the Towns Newsletter of Forest Heights, Md. about her upcoming play Conversations in Faith and her company JM Entertainment.

Writing Stage Plays

Before retiring in 2012, Jocelyn wrote her first two stage plays titled Men of the Bible and Women of the Bible. The plays are informative and easy to read. They were written so that people can gain a better understanding of, and thus learn from, the lives of some of the most famous and influential people in the Bible. Women of the Bible was performed at several churches in the Washington Metropolitan area. Her most recent books are Secrets in the Sanctuary and Secrets in the Sanctuary II: Secrets Exposed. Moore Hopes To Inspire, Enlighten With Her Writing

Moore has published three books titled Men of the Bible [2011], Women of the Bible [2011], and Rainbows and Valleys [2013].
She said her first two books are fiction but are based on actual historical characters. Rainbows and Valleys is also fiction.
